Establishment of CSR as a Full-Fledged Vertical at Agrifed

Background & Rationale

Agriculture today stands at a critical juncture. With a rapidly growing global population, climate uncertainties, soil degradation, and shrinking landholdings, the demand for sustainable and productive agricultural systems has never been greater. Increasing food production while ensuring environmental protection and farmer well-being is no longer optional—it is an urgent necessity. Agrifed has long been committed to supporting Indian farmers through the provision of high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural inputs at affordable prices. Over the years, the organization has built strong relationships with lakhs of farmers across the country, gaining deep insight into their challenges, aspirations, and unmet needs. This close engagement has revealed a pressing need for structured handholding, capacity building, and holistic support, particularly for marginalized and smallholder farmers in northern India. Recognizing this responsibility and opportunity, Agrifed now proposes to institutionalize its social commitment by launching CSR as a full-fledged vertical, aligned with national priorities, sustainable development goals, and long-term sectoral impact.

Our Purpose

Our mission is to empower farmers, enhance their economic potential, and promote sustainable agriculture by:

  • Providing access to high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and inputs at affordable prices
  • Promoting safe and informed usage of agricultural inputs
  • Encouraging environmentally responsible farming practices
  • Supporting adaptive innovations and integrated farm solutions
  • Continuously improving product quality through research, testing, and field studies

Beyond products, Agrifed seeks to contribute to systemic transformation in farming practices, enabling higher productivity, better incomes, and improved quality of life for farming communities.

Why CSR, Why Now

Several factors make this the right time to launch a dedicated CSR vertical:

  • Deep on-ground connectivity with lakhs of farmers
  • Growing need for structured capacity building and advisory support
  • Increasing vulnerability of marginal farmers to climate, health, and economic shocks
  • Limited access to technical knowledge, veterinary care, and healthcare in rural areas
  • Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to national goals such as farmer welfare, rural development, sustainability, and food security

Agrifed believes that true impact goes beyond commercial engagement—it lies in building  long-term resilience of farming communities.
